CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The expansion by Boeing in South Carolina will continue quickly during the new year.

Hundreds of jobs will be coming to the Charleston area as the aeronautics company restructures its engineering operations. Construction will continue on a South Carolina plant to make jet engine air inlets for Boeing’s 737 MAX, and ground will be broken on a facility to paint assembled 787 Dreamliners.

Currently the planes assembled in the company’s North Charleston plant are flown to Texas for painting with airline logos before they are flown back to South Carolina for final delivery.

Boeing earlier this year announced it was investing another $1 billion in South Carolina and creating 2,000 jobs over eight years.

The company also recently leased 470 acres near its North Charleston plant for future expansion.
